7 cups water
2  cups rolled oats  (Note:- If your cat does not like oat filler, or for a change, millet (add in the beginning of cooking 1 1/4 c. ) or cornmeal can replace oats, using only 1 1/2 c. cornmeal)

2 cloves garlic, chopped

1 cup yellow squash,  carrots, or pumpkin, raw, chopped -or add canned after cooking (yellow squash, carrots and pumpkin high in vitamin A and beta cerotene!)

2-3 egg yolks  (optional- some cats do not like eggs)
2 lbs. (4cups) meat or poultry- beefheart or deer, moose, elk -or heart of ,(OR liver, or combination)-OR ground Turkey, chicken, or hearts, livers of chicken, turkey( organ meats best for feline- do NOT use pork)  NOTE- while chicken livers do not need chopping before cooking, your tougher meats should prefferably be ground or chopped small before cooking

Health Powde

This mixture of nutrients is used in all this recipe, and can be used in others, (
being careful not to "double" any ingredients!) It contains many  important food supplements, which are available at most natural food stores: nutritional yeast (rich in B vitamins, iron and other nutrients); lecithin (for linoleic acid, choline and inositol, which help your animal emulsify and absorb fats, improving the condition of its coat and digestion); powdered kelp (for iodine and trace minerals); enough calcium to balance the high phosphorus levels in yeast and lecithin (this enables you to add this powder in any reasonable quantity to any recipe or other diet) and vitamin C (not officially required for dogs or cats because they synthesize their own, but clinical studies have found it to have  value).
2  cups    Nutritional (torula) yeas
t( or brewer's yeast)
1  cup    Lecithin granules

1/2 cup soy protein powder-optional-(only for kittens/cats 3 yr. and under-or for cats in need of extra protien or reahbilitating)

¼ cup    Kelp powder

¼ cup    Bonemea
l (or 9,000 milligrams calcium or 5 teaspoons Eggshell Powder-recipe below)
*1,000    milligrams    Vitamin C (ground) or ¼ teaspoon sodium ascorbate (optional)

Mix all ingredients together in a 1-quart container and refrigerate. Add to recipes as instructed. You may also add this mixture to commercial food as follows: 1 to 2 teaspoons per day for cats or small dogs; 2 to 3 teaspoons per day for medium-size dogs; 1 to 2 tablespoons per day for large dogs. Variations: Yeast substitution: The yeast is optional, but if you omit it, reduce the calcium in the Healthy Powder formula to 5 teaspoons bonemeal or 3,200 milligrams calcium or 1¾ teaspoons Eggshell powder (below) Use half the usual amount of Healthy Powder specified in each recipe. To replace the lost nutrients, add a complete multi-vitamin-mineral supplement to the daily food, using the amount recommended on the label. Do not use additional vitamin A, C or E, because they should be adequately supplied by the Pet vitamin. Kelp substitution: If your cat doesn't like the flavor of kelp or you can't find it, substitute 3/4 teaspoon of iodized salt (low sodium) plus 1/4 cup of either alfalfa powder or montmorillonite (a natural trace mineral powder). Alternatively, you can use a complete Pet multi-vitamin-mineral supplement as instructed on the label.

Eggshell Powder
This is the cheaper than buying, because you can make the supplement yourself from egg shells, which are very high in calcium carbonate. Here's how to make eggshell powder. Wash the eggshells right after cracking and let them dry until you have accumulated a dozen or so. (Each whole eggshell makes about a teaspoon of powder, which equals about 1,800 milligrams of calcium.) Then bake at 300°F for about ten minutes. This removes a mineral-oil coating sometimes added to keep eggs from drying out. It also makes the shells dry and brittle enough to grind to a fine powder with a nut and seed grinder, blender or mortar and pestle. Grind well enough that there are no sharp, gritty pieces.
* NOTE: The use of ascorbic acid for source of vitamin C NOT RECOMENDED, as this may cause alegenic skin reactions.
